Methods, Mechanism, and Mayhem

The Anderson Group in the Department of Chemistry at UIC develops new reactions to prepare novel heterocycles and organic scaffolds that are challenging to access with existing synthetic technology. We aim to design new and efficient synthetic processes using simple starting materials and a combination of pericyclic reactions and transition metal catalysis to rapidly build molecular complexity. These studies allow us to investigate new fundamental chemistry with mechanistic and computational studies, and collaborate with researchers interested in exploring applications of novel compounds.
